The American Board of Home Care (ABHC) was established to educate seniors and their families so they can make an educated decision when choosing an in-home caregiver and avoid unnecessary risks and liabilities.
One of the most important factors for arranging home care is to select a company that serves as the legal employer of the caregiver and assumes all the necessary legal and financial responsibilities. Home care providers can all appear the same to an uninformed consumer and some companies even try to hide the fact that they do not legally employ their caregivers.
An American Board of Home Care Certified Employer identifies with the Mission of ABHC: “to promote legal and ethical business in the home care industry, thereby improving both industry standards and consumer confidence.” ABHC member companies have passed a rigorous vetting and approval process where the ABHC reviews an applicant companies’ business practices, insurance coverages, and employment procedures.
